The Next Generation of Sustainable Communities Conference
The Next Generation of Sustainable Communities Conference will be held at the University of California, Davis on January 24, 2020. This invite-only vision symposium will critically evaluate lessons learned from large-scale sustainable community projects worldwide, including The Sustainable City in Dubai, and strategies for maximizing the success of the next generation. Participants will come from government, academia, civil society, and business. We envision our conversations will lead to a book which will include local, state and national policy recommendations.
This is a time of turbulent transformations which requires new visions. The climate crisis grows more severe by the day. The need for social equity and affordable housing is urgent. Political will and leadership in many parts of the world are seriously lacking. It is a time for new ideas on how communities can move towards sustainability, and how policy frameworks, private sector initiative, NGO action, university research, and institutional change can facilitate and foster such sustainable transformation.
We invite active involvement at the event and especially welcome contributions to cutting-edge ideas during breakout sessions, in full-group discussion, and on the symposium's shared documents after the event.
